SA 285 Grade A is a carbon steel known for its excellent weldability and formability, making it a practical choice for many fabrication needs. Its composition is straightforward, primarily iron with a controlled carbon content, along with manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur. This balance gives it a minimum yield strength of 27,000 psi and a tensile strength range of 45,000 to 60,000 psi, providing a solid combination of strength and ductility that is well-suited for a variety of non-critical pressure applications.
